When a Japanese ceramic is decorated using a pre-printed design that is wrapped around or pressed onto the clay, it is called Inban (印判) or Inbante (印判手). In western pottery terms, this is known as transferware. This teacup is an beautiful example of Inban because the print wrapping process often leaves tiny, charming imperfections like overlapping seams, slight pattern misalignments, or minor color blurs.
